Top 5 Reasons to get a Dalmatian

If you’re still not convinced that Dalmatians are simply the most awesome in the world, then my goal today is to change your mind. So if you just need that final push to help you on deciding if this breed is right for you, I got you covered. Here are my top 5 reasons (in no particular order) to get a Dalmatian of your own.

1. They are Unique

Top 5 Reasons to get a DalmatianCan you name any other dog breed that has spots? Well ok fine, maybe they are not the only dogs that have spots, but they are the breed that is certainly most known for it. I mean when you see a Dalmatian you can’t confuse them with any other breed. In a room full of all kinds of dogs, these guys will definitely catch your eye and spark your interest.

2. Highly Intelligent

A dog that can’t think about anything but food is not something most pet owners want. Usually when someone is thinking of getting a dog, they are looking for a loyal and intelligent companion and not a pet that just eats and wags his tail. I mean, we do want a dog that eats and wags his tail, but it shouldn’t end just there.

Properly bred Dalmatians are actually really intelligent. In fact, it’s their intelligence that often gets them in trouble. While some dogs like to blindly just follow orders without putting any thought into anything, these dogs actually like to think and analyze things before they do something. Having said that, owning an intelligent dog is definitely not for everyone. For some people it can actually be a problem.

3. As Outgoing as Dogs Can Get

If you’re an outgoing person yourself, why would you want a dog that just wants to sit at home doing nothing? You want a dog that loves doing the same things that you love to do. You want to take your dog out with you to a hike, park, picnics and other social gathering. And your Dalmatian will be glad to follow you.

4. They Get a Lot of Attention

Almost everyone knows about Dalmatians and a lot of people get really excited when they see one. So not only will your dog love to socialize with other people, but other people will want to come over and pet him as well!

I can’t even count the times that I had other people stop in their cars to ask me about my dog. Some even would get out of their cars to pet the little guy. Of course he doesn’t complain about it. If anything, he will start showing off his simple little tricks (like shake and play dead) to get even more laughs and smiles out of his audience.

5. Dalmatians Love Being Active

Again, this is not the type of dog that wants to sit home all day doing nothing. These guys love going on journeys with their owners. So if you like to hike, go to the park, or even just walk around the block – they will gladly tag along. If you love adventure then a Dalmatian would make a great companion for you.

I have had German Shepherds, Labrador Retrievers and Mongrels, I have never been so connected or loved by my Dalmation, Lola
