Professional Dalmatian Dog Trainers

If you’re struggling with your Dalmatian’s obedient and training, then you probably have considered hiring a so called professional dog trainer at one point or another. While it could be helpful to have someone who knows what they are doing to train your dog, it’s not always the best choice.

It is almost always better to train the Dalmatian yourself if you want him to respect and listen to you. Notice how I said almost always? It’s because there are some exceptions when it comes to disobedience problems.

Benefits of Hiring a Professional Dog Trainer

Professional dog trainers are usually good at what they do, for the most part at least. The good trainers have a lot of experience under their belt and have probably dealt with any disobedience situation you are struggling with.

Having that experience and knowledge will give them the extra edge to solve the behavior issue and turn the Dalmatian’s behavior around. They know how to act like the pack leader, how dogs respond to their actions and how to read the dog’s body language.

Overall I would only suggest you hire a professional dog trainer if you have absolutely no luck with the dog yourself or if he is starting to show aggressive behavior.

Disadvantages of a Professional Dog Trainer

The disadvantage of hiring a dog trainer is that the dog will start listening and respecting the trainer and not you. You will also miss out on the opportunity to learn more about your dog and develop a stronger bond with him.

Hiring a trainer is expensive – It’s not cheap to hire a dog trainer to solve your dog’s behavior issues. And what would happen if after the trainer left your dog started disobeying again? Will you know how to deal with the problem or will you have to spend more money on more help?

You don’t get to bond with your Dalmatian – Trainers are good to learn from, but if they do all the training then the dog will start listening to them and not you. In Dalmatian’s eyes, the trainer is the true leader and it’s really him that the dog will feel the need to obey.

Bad dog trainers can make the situation worse – Do you know the difference between a good dog trainer vs. a bad one? If the dog trainer doesn’t know what he is doing, he can make your dog’s behavior even worse. And it’s you who will end up cleaning up the mess.

Alternatives

Better alternative is to try training the dog on your own. It’s really not that hard if you know which methods to use and how to use them. I suggest you pick up a good dog training book to help with your Dalmatian.
